For many moms, life often revolves around nurturing, caregiving and putting our children’s needs first. As a 31 year old mother of 6, it was the discovery of powerlifting that unlocked a new chapter of self-empowerment and personal purpose. What began as a personal challenge to get accountability turned into a life changing pursuit that not only improved my physical strength but also reshaped my emotional and mental resilience.
One day I was searching for gyms nearby and found Darkside Strength never looked back after that. It all started with one simple goal: to get stronger. The first program written to me was to a 3 day program. I had to max out I didn’t even know what that meant but…After that each session in the gym was test of my perseverance, and with every lift, I pushed myself to overcome the doubts that often accompanies motherhood. After each PR I realize how much I needed to feel strong. It is not about the number on the bar, it is about how I feel after each lift because before I felt like I couldn’t handle anything that came my way.
Finding this community of like minded individuals who love to lift and cheer for you is just amazing. Darkside has become my sanctuary, a space where I’m not only a “mom” but Claudia the powerlifter. The camaraderie of this gym inspires me to push harder, and, in return I’m beginning to inspire others.
The discipline, focus and empowerment I’ve gained in the gym has reflected in my home life. I feel more connected to my children. I’ve realized that taking time for myself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. I’m a better mom and a better version of myself. This journey hasn’t been easy I’ve had moments of doubt, setbacks, and times when juggling motherhood and training has felt impossible. But my persistence has paid off I recently squatted 300 pounds and benched 165 something that I never thought possible. I’m sharing my story because I want other women to have dreams, goals, and strength outside of their role as a mother. Taking time for self-care, pursuing passions, and seeking personal growth isn’t selfish- it’s essential.
I invite women to come give Darkside Strength a try you won’t be disappointed
